Summer Love

Dawn pours a gilded light through the night clouds,
Round and grey and filled with stormy promise.
The summer bats weave a wobbly path to their hidden roosts,
They know the day's sterile sun is best avoided.
Moist, scented air rises from the shadowed lawns,
The musky pine bows,
The leaves and flowers.
Few disturb this peaceful quiet.
This moment between night and day when you realize you're dreaming.
